Women in tech at Readly - meet Rutuja, CRM Lead
What inspired you to pursue a career in tech, and how did your journey lead you to Readly?
As a 90’s millennial girl who grew up in the west of India, I witnessed technology evolving. It fascinated me a lot how technology connected everyone across the globe through content, stories and journalism. When an opportunity at Readly came up, I decided to move to Sweden spontaneously. Readly is the place where my passion for technology and content fits perfectly! It’s a biggest motivator for me to work with such quality content and making sure it reaches to our users in Readly community.
What role does CRM play in supporting users to find interesting content?
Think of CRM as a trusty “Content Cupid”, pairing each reader with content they’ll genuinely love. We have a super power of making sure users never miss a new edition of their favorite magazine or an unexpected gem they didn’t even know they needed. Through CRM we connect with our community of users, give them a peek of what’s happening at Readly & we deliver a daily dose of news, world events, latest fashion trends or new ways to make Banana bread…there’s something for everyone!
As a woman in tech, what challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
I’ve definitely gotten my fair share of raised eyebrows when leading a project and neglected opinions in meetings, but these moments are my cue to shine even brighter. I learned to see every obstacle as a puzzle, crackable with the right mindset and a bit of coffee! My biggest advice? Stay curious, find mentors and surround yourself with people who cheer for you so loud that you don’t hear the naysayers.
What role does diversity and inclusivity play in creating better tech solutions?
Unique perspectives are key in this field. Everyone comes from different parts of the world with a mix of valuable perspectives and learnings which will improve innovation in tech. At Readly, we focus on telling stories from around the world through editorial content and journalism, having a diverse team will help us to make sure users find value, relevance, and joy in the product. Inclusivity isn’t just a feel-good buzzword; it’s the secret sauce that drives empathy-driven design and better problem-solving.
