About the role

At Readly, we’re passionate about building software that is robust, easy to maintain, and extensible. Our focus is on quick experimentation and continuous improvement of our applications and systems. We count on our platform- and site reliability engineers to empower our internal and external users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. As we expand our focus on automation, we are currently seeking an experienced SRE to support our company with structures for building, deploying, and maintaining software. Specifically, we are searching for someone who has experience in the AWS-landscape, brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

Responsibilities 

• Use technology to improve Operations, increase Security, and enable Continuous Integration & Deployments of applications
• Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
• Collaborating with development teams to improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our software services, through automation.
• Advocating and implementing system performance metrics, with the goal of optimizing our environment for future capabilities, getting ahead of customer needs
• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
• Provide operational support and engineering for our software applications
• Consult in system design, platform management, and capacity planning

Required Technical Experience

• Amazon Web Services (ECS, CloudFormation, CloudFront, EventBridge, ALB)
• Terraform
• MongoDB Atlas (Managing, bottleneck identification, performance tuning)
• Datadog
• Docker (Building/managing/running Golang and/or Ruby containers)
• CI/CD pipeline tools and frameworks

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
• Container orchestration with AWS EKS, or just general Kubernetes experience
